The murder charges against Maryam Sanda, the alleged killer wife of Bilyamin Bello have been amended before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Jabi, as the police added the mother of the accused and a former Executive Director of Aso Savings and Loans, Hajiya Maimuna Aliyu, and two others to the list of defendants.
Maryam Sanda allegedly stabbed her husband and father of her daughter, Bilyamin Bello, to death. The father of Bilyamin Bello was a former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).
The prosecuting counsel, Mr James Idachaba informed the trial judge, Justice Yusuf Halilu, of the new development on Thursday, that the prosecution had not been able to serve the new defendants.
14th of December was fixed by the judge for all the defendants to be arraigned.
The accused, who was arraigned on the 24th of November, pleaded not guilty to the counts of murder of her husband, and was then remanded in Suleja prison ahead of her trial which took place on Thursday, where the new counsel for the defense, Mr. Joseph Daudu (SAN), entered an oral plea to secure the release of the widow from prison. The plea was rejected by the judge and Sanda was ordered back to prison.
