A former boxer turned pastor, identified Everistus Ezehiri has reportedly killed his wife on Christmas day after allegedly battering her in Uli, Ihiala LGA of Anambra State.
Sources reveal the deceased was an industrious petty trader who was well over by her associates and acquaintances at the local Ekeagbagba market where she had a shop prior to her death.
According to reports, the raucous ensued when the victim had asked her husband for money to cook for the family on Christmas day, a request he denied and proceeded to batter her, leading to her death which occurred almost immediately.
The alleged killer husband, Mr Ezehiri, currently on the run, is said to be a pastor with a local branch of Our Lord Chosen Church in the town.
The death of the woman prompted irate youths from Amamputu, a neighbouring village also in Uli, to march to the country home of Mr Ezehiri, upon the search for him, discovery of charms and idols were allegedly made, and they proceeded to raze the whole house down.
Among the shocking items found in the possession of the pastor was a moulded human statue clothed with the apron of Our Lord Chosen.
