A lady who has been accused of locking her house help in an apartment located in the Mafoluku area of Lagos state has been arrested by officers of the Lagos State Police Command. After series of complaints from neighbors about the ill-treatment of the 11 year old maid identified as Precious Nwafor, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command personally arrived the premises on Thursday to effect her rescue The suspect, identified as Nkechiyere Nwajagun, a banker, although agreed she locked Precious inside the apartment, she noted that the duration was only during the period she goes to work. Explaining further, she said Precious was brought by her elder sister from the village in October, who left the Primary six student in her care while she embarked on her Christmas vacation.
While confirming the arrest, the Spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, Chile Oti , revealed : ” The female banker who hails from Ajali in Orumba Local Government Area of Anambra state but resides at 12 Baderin street, Mafoluku Oshodi, reported at Makinde Police Station Oshodi , last night ( Thursday night) from where she was taken to the Human Rights Section of Lagos State Command Ikeja. “Nwajagu”s apartment was forced open on the instruction of the CP in order to rescue her housemaid, Precious Nwafor , who she locked up. She said she had no choice than to lock her in anytime she goes to work until she returns at night. She was taken to court today ( yesterday) by the Human Rights Section of the Lagos State Command , led by Mrs Kemi Adedeji, a Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP.”
